Dear parents and carers,

We have been made aware that children across the country, have been contacted by a stranger on Fortnite, who has then groomed them. These children have been encouraged to perform inappropriate acts, and told that if they do not comply, then harm will come to their loved ones.

It is vital that all parents and carers are aware of what their child is accessing online, and are ensuring that they understand the dangers of communicating with others online, even if you think you know who it is.

We would also like to add that the game Fortnite has 12+ as the recommended age of users, and its creators state this does not take into account the ‘chat feature’.

For more information about the game, Fortnite, please follow the link to the NSPCC guidance below:

Finally, if you, or your child are ever concerned by anything that happens online, please make an appointment to speak to one of our Home School Link Worker, Miss Millward, who can offer support.
